Longnose gar and alligator gar fishing is something that is looked down upon among many groups of anglers and many fisherman consider the gar to be a “trash fish” but these fish are totally under appreciated and misunderstood.
Texas is home to the largest gar population in the world and despite attempts years ago to eradicate these prehistoric fish they are present in huge numbers across many lakes we fish and on the Brazos River.
Guided gar fishing trips are done in the late spring and summer months and are typically done on the river but longnose gar fishing trips are available on Lake Lewisville, Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth.
