August has delivered another incredible month of catfishing here in Fort Worth, and the action has been nothing short of spectacular. At North Texas Catfish Guide Service, we’ve been reeling in an abundance of blue catfish and channel catfish, and have been limiting out or coming within a few fishing of limiting out almost every trip. I;ve got September and October dates available (and even have weekend availability still) just head over to the book now page to get scheduled.
But guess what? The excitement doesn’t stop here!
The catfish bonanza will continue throughout September and October. If you’re itching for a heart-pounding angling adventure, now is the time to book your fishing trip with us at Eagle Mountain Lake.
Unbelievable Numbers
Hold on to your fishing rods because the numbers don’t lie! Last week alone, we set a remarkable record by boating over a staggering nine hundred fish in five days, and that’s just on one boat! That’s right, you read it correctly—nine hundred fish in one week. The catfish population in Eagle Mountain Lake is thriving, and they’re hungry for action and we’re catching good quality fishing and some occasional bigger trophy fish as well.
The heat is supposed to break next week and the daytime temperatures will stay in the 80’s and this typically makes the fishing better. The quality and quantity of fish will typically improve. We’ll also typically start to see more blue catfish show up and the overall quality of fish usually improves as water temperatures drop.

We offer two different types of catfish trips in the cooler months. We can target numbers of catfish (smaller fish, faster action, and the chance of a bigger fish) or we can target trophy class blue catfish and focus our time on catching a monster trophy class catfish of a lifetime! We can also do a little bit of both on the longer trips. The light tackle fishing in the fall and winter is some of my favorite fishing but I love to chase the monster trophy class blue catfish as well. Last winter we also caught a ton of big fish on light tackle while targeting numbers of catfish!

Crappie and Flathead Catfish Update
Many of you have reached out and asked about crappie fishing in September and October. As soon as the heat breaks next week I’m going to do some scouting and see what the crappie are doing. The lake is currently 7.5 feet low so I just need to see if I can find enough fish on the brushpiles to have successful trips in September and October.
I’m also going to be scouting for flathead catfish over the next couple of weeks as well and if I find fish that I feel good about catching I’ll book a limited number of flathead catfish trips.
If you’re interested in either of these trips shoot me a text or call me at 817-522-3804 and I’ll follow up as soon as I’ve done some scouting.
