It’s been a strange winter even by Texas standards.
We get a few days of cold weather and then it warms up and we have a long run of afternoons with the weather in the ’60s and ’70s. The weather patterns have made for some odd fishing patterns when it comes to fishing and the catfish getting into a winter pattern and staying there.
Regardless, the fishing has really made a turn in the past week and it’s gone full tilt. We’ve had some amazing trips over the past five days with not only excellent numbers of blue catfish but a good consistent pattern of catching trophy blue catfish in the teens, twenties, and thirties. As we continue to head into Spring the blue catfish bite will only improve. March and April are traditionally the best months of the year for catching trophy blue catfish.
These trips fill up fast so don’t delay in getting booked. I still have a couple of March and April weekends open as of right now but expect they’ll all fill up in a matter of days,
Next up, after the spring blue catfish bite slows down in early to mid-May we will start chasing after channel catfish and white bass. These are great trips for lots of fish and fast action (and one of the best times of the year to bring kids). Summer trips are half days so we can beat the heat!
