February has been an awesome month of fishing on Eagle Mountain Lake. The catfish action has been red hot. We’ve been catching trophy blue catfish and excellent numbers of blue catfish and channel catfish when fishing light tackle on our fishing charters.
We’ve had some really cool weather and water temps have been really low for Texas this time of year. With the warm weather that arrived this week water temperatures have really started warming up the past few days and that means the catfish, white bass, crappie and all other species of fish will be making HUGE moves in the coming week and the fishing will be red hot.
In March you can expect excellent numbers of blue catfish but also a good consistent pattern of catching trophy blue catfish in the teens, twenties, and thirties. As we continue to head into Spring the blue catfish bite will only improve. March and April are traditionally the best months of the year for catching numbers of blue catfish and March will typically continue to produce amazing action for numbers of blue catfish as well. Once May arrives it’s some of the best channel catfish action of the year.
The spring catfish bite is hands down my favorite fishing of the year. The fishing is excellent and it’s a TON of fun!
These trips fill up fast so don’t delay in getting booked. I still have a handful of March and April weekend dates open as of right now but expect they’ll all fill up fast. I’m a full-time fishing guide and fish 7 days a week so I’m always available on weekdays and weekends!
If you’re coming from out of town there’s a variety of lodging options available and you can even stay at Lakeview Marina where we launch from.
