What is it they say about Texas weather? If you don’t like it wait 15 minutes because it will change again!
I thought fall was here but it lasted a week. I’ve been fishing in shorts and flip-flops for the past few days which doesn’t seem right! Water temperatures on the Fort Worth area lakes dropped into the mid to high fifties for a week or so and then jumped back up again with the recent heat.
We’re fishing for blue catfish with the crazy changes in weather where it cools off and warms right back up it keeps the fish scattered (and a bit confused). A big cold front or some cold rain will drop the water temperatures down where it needs to be and will fire up the trophy blue catfish bite.
We’re catching fair to good numbers of blue catfish and have had some good quality trophy blue catfish mixed in over the past few weeks. The fish are moving a lot but we’ve managed to stay in them and had good trips for the most part. As always the wind is your friend and really helps with making for a productive day of fishing. We’re mixing things up a bit and fishing for numbers and big fish at the same time most days and will likely keep doing that until we get that last cold front to knock the water temps down. I’ve found some good numbers of big blue catfish that have been holding in the same area for a few days which is a good sign!
There are a few photos below of some recent fish!

Spring Catfishing
I’m already getting a ton of calls from spring and people anticipating the shallow water blue catfish action. It’s going to be a busy spring and with the numbers of blue catfish we’ve got in the lakes these days fishing should be crazy. If you want in on the best action of the year for numbers of blue catfish don’t wait because these trips fill up early!
