The weather in North Texas is starting to cool nicely and the cold front that arrived this week will start showing significant drops in water temperature.
The blue catfish bite is getting more and more consistent and blue catfish are being caught in good to excellent numbers on Eagle Mountain Lake. My clients are starting to catch some big catfish as well.
I am in the process of rigging up my trophy catfishing gear right now and gearing up for the big blue catfish bite. I expect this to be good to excellent in the next few weeks. Thanksgiving is usually the mark when the bite really begins to get fired up.
I am still catfishing at Eagle Mountain Lake right now and will continue to do so for the next couple of weeks. I will be doing a scouting trip to Lake Worth later this week and will be doing a scouting trip to Lake Lewisville next week.
Trophy blue catfish trips will be on Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain and Lewisville this winter. My phone has been ringing off the hook the past week or so. If you want to get your choice of dates you need to book soon.
Channel catfish bite is still good and will remain that way through the winter. I have had a bunch of calls about fishing the water turkey roosts this winter also and have yet to scout any locations at this time. I am concerned that with the high lake levels on some of the lakes the access may be limited but I will know more in the next week or so.
