LAKE FAIRFIELD FISHING GUIDE SERVICE FOR CHANNEL CATFISH, FLATHEAD CATFISH AND FRESHWATER REDFISH

LAKE FAIRFIELD FRESHWATER REDFISH
North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers Guided Catfish Fishing Trips on Lake Fairfield for Flathead Catfish and Channel Catfish as well as Redfish (Red Drum). Lake Fairfield is a 2300 Acre impoundment located just Southeast of Corsicana Texas.
Lake Fairfield is a small lake surrounded by Lake Fairfield State Park. The lake serves as cooling for the TXU Energy plant and is a hot water lake. Water temperatures will hover around 100 degrees most of the year.
Because of the power plant at this lake, you have a rare opportunity to catch saltwater fish. The much sought after Redfish or Red Drum is stocked into Lake Fairfield annually and there are some huge Redfish in this lake. Catching Redfish that are thirty inches or larger is very common. Redfish are known for their hard fight, they hit like a freight train and will test the abilities of the most experienced anglers.
In addition to huge Redfish, Lake Fairfield is home to excellent fishing for Flathead Catfish and Channnel Catfish. Rod and Reel fishing for Flathead Catfish can be excellent at times and fishing for channel catfish can also be excellent with Channel Catfish averaging in the 3-5 lb range being most common.
Camping is available at the state park surrounding Lake Fairfield with RV Hookups and Primitive Camping available.
The area around the state park is heavily timbered and filled with wildlife where campers will regularly see deer, raccoons, hogs, turkey and other native animals.

FISHING COVER/STRUCTURE Inundated timber is abundant in the upper end of the lake and in both coves on the east side. Hydrilla forms a fringe around the reservoir out to approximately 12'. Pockets of native pondweed provide openings in the hydrilla and make good ambush points. The heated cove provides warm water even in the winter. Emergent cattails and cutgrass grow in shallow water on the shoreward side of the hydrilla.
